Worth the trip from London to find great tasting, healthy, creative dishes that appeal to every palate.... in a nice, fun setting and at very reasonable prices topped by sinful desserts. No need to say more, but the host-owner is a well travelled affable character. This would be our hometown favourite and as native New Yorkers, we delighted in finding this culinary gem! Emily & Jim

Fantastic! We have been travelling since mid-May, through seven different countries and we agreed that this cosy, welcoming place is among the top three restaurants we’ve enjoyed – amazing food, great service and a pleasure to chat to the owner. We had one evening in Dover and the meal we had there made it one of the best evenings we’ve spent in five months!

Isn’t it always the way? When you have something fantastic right on your doorstep but fail to notice it. I have walked, cycled and driven past The Allotment since it opened and thought that I really should make the effort and try the place but never actually did. I could kick myself for choosing other establishments over it. I now have to make up for the missed years! This gem is my first thought when dining out is concerned. The food is wonderful – fresh, dramatic and inventive with a warm attentive atmosphere. Dave and his team have struck gold! I have waxed lyrical since I went there with my wife and can’t wait for the next opportunity to pop in.

It was our first visit to The Allotment and we hope its not the last! We were served a lovely glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc and enjoyed relaxing after a very long drive in the lovely courtyard garden at the back of the restaurant. I enjoy cooking at home and often eat out but unless paying a fortune am often disappointed. The Allotment offers good honest food at realistic and fair prices. The food is well prepared and thoughtfully put together and even my husband was impressed; good food that’s not messed about with, delicious with a few surprises. Dave and his team were great, professional and attentive. A very enjoyable evening all round – Well done! And every success to The Allotment – Dover is lucky to have you!

The Allotment is everything that we look for and enjoy in a restaurant .....wonderful food and wine, all at very affordable prices, a great atmosphere but most of all a restaurant that is run by someone who clearly enjoys good food and wine and is eager to spread the word. Dave Flynn has created a little gem in a part of the world that seems to be waking up to its own potential. Clearly the word is out as on the night we were there, we shared The Allotment with among others a table of Americans and a table of French tourists who were all clearly enjoying their evening too. The Allotment is well worth a visit!

The perfect antidote to a long journey! We arrived in Dover, tired, irritable and hungry having travelled from Spain with our two teenage boys. The Allotment had been recommended to us by some friends so we decided to give it a try. The food was wonderfully fresh and we thoroughly enjoyed watching it being cooked infront of us. The boys loved the home-made burgers and we enjoyed the fish and lamb. The salads and vegetables were so fresh you could really tell that they had been picked that day! Dave, the owner made us feel very welcome (as did all the staff) and we treated ourselves to a very affordable and interesting bottle of English wine on his recommendation. We thoroughly recommend this restaurant for its deliciously fresh, well cooked food and excellent company. Thanks - We'll be back!

The chef/owner of this fabulous restaurant has got everything absolutely right. The food was superb accompanied by a wine list which was not only excellent but completely affordable! The Allotments atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and relaxed but at the same time highly professional. I could not recommend this delightful little restaurant highly enough and would say it's well worth the drive from London for the shear pleasure of eating there.

This gem really made our stay in Dover a memorable one. The chef/owner is great and comes to each table to explain the menu which changes based on what local produce can be soured at the time.
The food was delicious and simple but with enough flair to really make a fantastic evening. Service was fab and we really felt like we got one on one treatment despite there being quite a few other tables full.
The wine list was fabulous and all in all we would recommend this place to anyone!!!!!! Wish they had one in London!!!!
